Travelocity sent out an email yesterday that included a $40 off $100 coupon for a booking that is made on their mobile app that didn’t have any other than certain brand restrictions.
As I wrote last year (access here), Travelocity is now merely a skin for Expedia which handles all the bookings on its behalf. The promotions that these companies offer are separate, however.

Note that there is a rather long brand exclusion list for this promo code. Seems that you may be able to use this offer code more than once.
When I would use $40 off $100 coupon on Travelocity?
– I would like to try out a local hotel that is not part of any chain and there is no benefit booking directly.
– You are making a booking in a location that doesn’t have hotels from your preferred chains (there are plenty of places such as that)
– You just need a quick overnight and doesn’t care about the brand.

Conclusion
I book using OTA’s every once in a while usually for lower end brands that have breakfast and free internet access included and using these promo codes can make those very inexpensive.
Cannot remember the last time I used Travelocity to book anything (must have been mid/early 2000’s), but will try booking something before the end of tonight to use this offer.
